Review: building the LEGO Dream documentary

Only the Best is Good Enough
Hello, dear LEGO lovers. LEGO has just released Building the LEGO Dream, a brand-new documentary on their website this Sunday morning, and we watched it first thing after we woke up.
The 40-minute-long film asks two questions: what is it like to be a LEGO designer, and how do you become one?
The Building the LEGO Dream documentary follows five talented people from different walks of life and different corners of the world as they answer those questions and settle into the reality of being a LEGO designer. Their journeys have all started with submitting a LEGO Ideas project and, at a later date, getting a job with the LEGO Group in Billund.
As expected, such a decision has changed the course of their lives for the better, and they tell us everything about this experience.
As someone who has discovered LEGO a little bit late in their lives, both Alina and I have been truly moved by these stories and have even shed a few tears towards the end when we saw how emotional the young designers got when they saw their creations in the LEGO Vault.
We enjoyed the documentary a lot because it felt honest, personal, had very good pacing, and was not hurried or overwhelming. In a world where all the videos are 2 minutes long, cut to appear like content from social media, such a high-quality, professional, from-the-heart production was exactly what we were hoping for. The designers talk naturally, the music is perfect, the scenes don’t change too fast, everything is as it should be.
If you love LEGO as much as we do, we encourage you to check out the Building the LEGO Dream documentary at the following link.
For now, the video is not yet available on YouTube, but you can use mirroring to a TV via AirPlay if you have an Apple device or Chromecast if you use Android.
I hope that the LEGO Group will upload this to YouTube soon and also that they will add an Audio Descriptions track for low-vision and blind LEGO fans.
Since falling in love with LEGO in August 2024, we have collected and built over 200 sets, had a workshop at KLOSSExpo, the largest LEGO convention in Norway, where we showed how blind people build LEGO. We have also visited the Home of the Brick and LEGOLand and even met the LEGO House CEO in Billund.
We love watching these documentaries and getting inspired by the people in them to follow our passion for LEGO wherever it takes us. After watching this I realized once again that the most important thing in life is to follow your dreams, wherever they may take you.
Happy building, everyone!
