Nintendo publishes dedicated Accessibility page for Nintendo Switch 2

Hello dear friends. After today’s announcement that Nintendo Switch 2 launches in early June and first details about some accessibility features available with the new device, Nintendo just published a dedicated accessibility page for the new console. It is absolutely mind-blowing that Nintendo communicates so transparently with the accessibility and disability community about future plans for the Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 introduces a range of accessibility features designed to accommodate diverse player needs. Here’s a detailed overview:
- Text Options: Adjust text size with three settings and enable bold text for enhanced readability.
- Button Mapping: Customize controller button configurations to suit your preferences. Save multiple layouts and access them quickly through the Quick Settings by holding the HOME Button.
- Display Colors: Modify system display colors with options like Grayscale and Invert Colors. Activate High Contrast mode to increase screen contrast for the HOME Menu and system settings.
- Screen Zoom: Enlarge on-screen content by quickly pressing the HOME Button twice, facilitating better visibility of game elements and text.
- Mono Audio: Switch audio output to mono, combining stereo channels into a single channel, beneficial for users with hearing impairments in one ear.
- Text-to-Speech: Enable the system to read aloud on-screen text in the HOME Menu and system settings. Customize voice type, reading speed, and volume to your liking.
- GameChat Voice Speech-to-Text: Convert spoken words from other players in GameChat into on-screen text, aiding those with hearing difficulties during online interactions.
- GameChat Text-to-Speech Audio: Input text via a keyboard and have it read aloud to other GameChat participants, supporting players with speech impairments.
These features aim to make gaming on the Nintendo Switch 2 more inclusive and adaptable to individual preferences.
I urge you to visit the official accessibility page and listen to the text to speech samples and of course, check out other features.
This is great news for every impaired and disabled player in the world. Now we will be waiting for announcements on upcoming titles that will actually support the screen reader.
Thank you to Nintendo for making this possible and for allowing us to hope for a more inclusive future.
