Hello again, dear friends!

Netflix has released this week the excellent movie adaptation for Stephen king’s short story Mr. Harrigan’s Phone and as I previously mentioned here, we were eagerly awaiting for it. As such, we found some time end watched it. Below, you can read my short review for it.

InMr. Harrigan’s Phone we see Donald Sutherland, an aging billionaire and Jaeden Martell, a timid teenager, as they bond over books, friendship, respect and their first iPhones.

But things take a strange turn when the older gentleman passes, because in typical Stephen King style, the mysterious connection between the two protagonists refuses to die with the old man!

I don’t want to get into any more details, because I don’t want to spoil this roller coaster of events for anyone reading this.

Screen writer and Director, John Lee Hancock did a fantastic job with this dark, atmospheric and thrilling supernatural coming-of-age story by managing to capture Mr. King’s original vision for these characters. I think what I love though most about this production is the excellent chemistry between the two main characters and the fact that the action moves on at a balanced pace, not at all hurried, according enough time for the relationship to evolve and bloom in a natural way. Mr. Harrigan’s Phone is more of a psychological thriller than a horror story,, it leans more towards the paranormal and strange then to the bloody and gory side of things, but for whatever reason you would consider to give it a chance, I can assure you that this time Netflix has produced quite an enjoyable and entertaining movie.

The audio description track for Mr. Harrigan’s Phone is very well done, on point, filled with interesting details, perfectly mixed in with the rest of the audio so that it is never encroaching on the native experience, but at the same time manages to impart information in a seamless manner.

I love the original short story so I also can appreciate how this adaptation turned out. So, if you are a Stephen King fan or just want to watch a creepy movie during this Halloween season, I highly recommend Mr. Harrigan’s Phone!

Let me know what you think about the movie if you’ve already watched it or after you do.
