Blind accessible game, Coloratura, announced for Global Accessibility Awareness Day as an audio-first narrative experience shaped by inclusive design

Forest-themed digital illustration with stylized audio circle. The image shows a hand-drawn scene of a wooded outdoor area with large trees, bushes, and rocks, all sketched in thin white lines against a dark teal-to-purple gradient background. In the lower middle area, there is a pathway or set of stepping stones leading into the woods, bordered by rocky edges. Slightly left of center stands a simple rectangular sign; faint text on it reads “WOODLANDS.” On the right side, there is a suggestion of a structure, like a porch or pavilion, outlined with straight lines and vertical posts among the trees. Over the center of the image is a large white circle made of tiny dots and short radial bars, resembling an audio visualizer or sound-wave ring. Four solid white circles of different sizes sit along this ring at various positions. Across the middle, overlaid on the forest scene and inside the ring, is the word “COLORATURA” in thin, all-capital white letters, with the first “O” replaced by one of the solid white circles.

Hello dear readers. One of the more interesting announcements out of this year’s Global Accessibility Awareness Day is Coloratura, an upcoming audio-first narrative adventure from Dojo System and Nakama Game Studio.

Built around immersive 3D binaural audio, the game follows Alex, a young musician slowly losing her vision, through a deeply personal journey focused on sound, perception, and exploration. The developers describe the project as “structurally inclusive,” with accessibility designed directly into the core experience instead of being treated as an optional feature.

A public Steam demo is scheduled for June 15, while the full release is currently planned for both PC and PlayStation 5 later this year. There is also a trailer and anyone interested should absolutely give it a watch.

As a totally blind accessibility advocate and gaming journalist, this is exactly the kind of project I love to see in the industry. I will definitely be following Coloratura closely, and I would be more than happy to cover or review the game for my community once the time comes.
