Entertainment Review – Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
This article has been posted as Early Access content for my Patrons.
Yesterday, after a short, brisk, 5km walk through Frognerparken, one of the most beautiful parks in Oslo, we returned to the welcoming Odeon Cinema to watch Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
This is the third movie in the Fantastic Beasts saga and the 10th in the Wizarding World extended universe. The movie is written by J. K. Rowling and brought to the big screen and later to HBO max by WB Entertainment. Both Alina and I are huge Harry Potter fans and we also enjoyed the previous two films in this spinoff series, so we couldn’t miss out on the chance to watch Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore at the cinema.
To be honest with you, it was more of a private screening than a fully-fledged cinema experience, because we were the only ones in the room. We were forced to go to a 10:30 a.m. screening because all other viewings were sold out until next week. But, it was a very pleasant experience that we will aim to replicate in the future.
Now, about the movie.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore continues the story ark started in the previous movies and we see our heroes battling the forces of evil in what could become a war between wizards and the clueless Muggles.
Without giving anything away I can confirm that we liked the movie a lot. The story is captivating and reveals some interesting secrets surrounding our heroes, the special effects are well done, the cinematography is gorgeous, the actors deliver gripping performances, while the dark atmosphere and epic soundtrack composed by James Newton Howard, combine and entwine in order to create a completely immersive viewing experience for everyone’s pleasure.
The on-screen chemistry between Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen who has replaced Johnny Depp as the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is electrifying and all other actors are doing a great job as well.
With great pacing that gives time for both the character development and the superb writing to shine, but also with enough locations and action-filled moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is another excellent release that will delight and entertain fans of Harry Potter and of The Wizarding World alike.
With this movie, JK rolling shows everyone that she has nothing against members of the LGBTQ+ Community and that she always embraced diversity, inclusion, and proper representation. We love her in this house! The Harry Potter books are magical and even these movies allow us to return to this captivating world that we like so much.
So, if you are a Harry Potter fan and enjoyed the first two movies in the Fantastic Beasts saga, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is should be just the perfect next adventure for you.
This could very well be a point to end the saga, although we may see more of these magical adventures coming our way in the future. The fact that Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is written by J. K. Rowling makes all the difference because both the story and the characters feel true to what we were hoping for.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore delivers almost two hours and a half of spells and thrills that should make everyone happy!
