Hello dear friends. Yesterday, Alina, one of our dearest friends here in Oslo, and I returned to the Odeon Theater in Oslo to watch John Wick Chapter 4.
Starring Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, and many other fabulous actors, John Wick Chapter 4 is the best one yet in this unique series of action movies that I think has become a genre of its own.

At the beginning of the film things are not going well for John Wick and with the High Table hunting him down all over the world and deconsecrating Continental hotels to the left and to the right because one manager or the other helped the excommunicated asset, John has only a few friends that he can count on.

I don’t want to spoil any part of the plot for you because although an insane time of the production is spent on crazy fight scenes, gun fights, gun-fu sequences and over-the-top hand-to-hand combat, I still love the plot a lot.

The action moves fast from New York to Paris then it spends a while in Osaka, leaving everywhere an ever-growing body count of unlucky people who thought they could take out John Wick but ended up dispatched in new and extremely inventive way. Our whirlwind of an international excursion wreaks havoc through Berlin and then returns to Paris for a final, inevitable face-off.

Both Alina and Helene love the way in which all the action scenes were filmed and they told me that for each city the director used a specific color filter that will help the viewer better immerse themselves into the experience.
On my part, I was absolutely blown away by the sound design, by the extremely atmospheric music, I cracked up at all the one-liners exchanged between these characters that I grew up to care for so much in these movies and although I couldn’t see anything and the Cinema didn’t offer audio descriptions, I truly had a very entertaining time with John Wick Chapter 4.

Of course, I will be eagerly awaiting the release of the movie on a streaming or video-on-demand service so that I can experience it with audio descriptions, but even without them, and with some whispered help in the form of live audio descriptions from Alina I was able to understand everything happening on the cinema screen.

A huge shout-out to the proper representation of a blind character in this movie. He is one of the main assassins and Alina told me that he acts like he is really blind, and she’s an expert of that living with me all these years, ha ha. So, John Wick Chapter 4 is the best one yet in our opinion. Everything that we love about this series is even better, bigger and bolder and I highly recommend that you get some time and go to watch it in a real Cinema. How the music morphs from one track to another is mesmerizing and when bullets start to fly or Blades clash creates an immersive experience that in my humble opinion was never achieved before in a movie.

John Wick Chapter 4 is dark, atmospheric, an achievement in next-generation cinematography, dominated by non-stop action, peppered with comedic relief at key moments and manages to offer the most complete, immersive and entertaining experience for old and new fans alike.

I am slowly taking a short vacation this week starting on Wednesday, so I wish you all a nice day and a fantastic week ahead.
