Brikkeverden: a store selling new, rare, retired and pre-loved LEGO opens this weekend in Bærums Verk near Oslo
LEGO fans near Oslo have a new destination to add to their must visit list. On June 13, Brikkeverden, which translates to “Brick World” in English, will officially open its doors in Bærums Verk, offering a carefully curated selection of new, pre-loved, retired, and rare LEGO sets for builders and collectors of all ages.
Brikkeverden is the result of a journey that began when co-founder Philip found himself rethinking his future after years in a demanding leadership career. Having reached what many would consider the peak of professional success, he realized something was missing. A simple question from childhood friend and future business partner Mats changed everything: “Why don’t you try LEGO?”
That question sparked a passion that eventually became a business. Together, Philip and Mats transformed their hobby into Brikkeverden, a store dedicated to the joy of building and collecting LEGO while also rediscovering a friendship that stretches back many years.
Located at Elvegangen 3 in Bærums Verk, the shop will feature everything from the latest releases to sought-after Collector’s items and retired sets that can be difficult to find elsewhere. An online store, Brikkeverden.no, is also expected to launch alongside the physical shop.
Brikkeverden is also a certified LEGO partner and will offer a great selection of new sets alongside retired and old LEGO.
Visitors will be delighted by a number of impressive displays, including a full LEGO City featuring more than 20 modular buildings. There will also be a dedicated minifigure workshop with thousands of minifigures and unlimited accessories, allowing Lego fans to create whatever character they can imagine. Builders searching for specific parts can browse more than 1,000 kilograms of miscellaneous LEGO, with bricks dating from 1980 right up to today. Luckily, all this will be nicely displayed on a candy-style wall where customers can buy exactly the pieces they need.
But wait, that’s not all, soon, the team also plans to offer free LEGO valuations and provide on-the-spot offers for collections they are interested in purchasing. Regular visitors will also be soon able to join Brikke-Klubben, the store’s loyalty program, which gives members 5 percent back on every purchase in the form of Brikkepoeng points that can later be redeemed for discounts or gift cards.
As someone who only recently fell in love with LEGO, I can completely understand Philip’s enthusiasm. Together with my wife Alina, I’ve built and collected more than 200 sets over the past few years, and I’m always excited to see entrepreneurs investing in the magic brick and helping the LEGO community grow.
Unless the world ends before Saturday, Alina and I will be making the trip to Bærums Verk to visit the store, browse the shelves, and say hello.
If you’re involved with Brikkeverden, or if you’re simply stopping by as a customer, don’t hesitate to come and chat. I’d be happy to share how blind builders like me enjoy and build LEGO, and I’d love to hear your own LEGO story as well.
Brikkeverden opens Saturday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Elvegangen 3, 2nd floor, Bærums Verk.
Nobody from Brikkeverden asked or paid me to write this article, but Philip is a super nice guy and here in little Norway, we usually help each other in any way we can. 🙂 Alina and I wish all the best to Philip and Mats with this project!
