This article has been posted as Early Access content for my Patrons last week.

Hello, dear friends! Late last night PlayStation aired an entire episode of State of Play dedicated completely to Hogwarts Legacy, the new Open World Action RPG from Avalanche Software and Portkey Games. Under the WB Games umbrella, the two developers did what it seems to be a fantastic job with bringing to life the magical world of Harry Potter.

As you well know by now, I am legally blind, but what you don’t know yet is that I discovered the Wizarding World at a very late age. To be honest with you, I was aware of the existence of the Harry Potter books, movies and of course, video games for many years, but I first dove in this magical universe about 4 years ago.

Alex, a good friend of mine that sometimes handles videos on our YouTube channel, almost begged me to read the books. And, I did! I listened to all of them in a little over 10 days and when Alina returned from work we rented the movies from iTunes. So you can say that we both had crash courses into Harry Potter stuff.

I was blown away by the beautiful writing and by the endearing characters, the world and the lore surrounding them all. Actually, a few months ago I re-listened to them again, and Alina also is making her way through the Harry Potter saga for the first time.

So, you can imagine that we were very excited to see what Hogwarts Legacy will bring.

Like everyone else, we got our first look at Hogwarts Legacy from the State of Play stream, but we watched it in the morning after we made two cups of bulletproof coffee. From what we saw, we think that this could be a magical game, one that will delight and entertain wannabe wizards and witches from all over the world.

The reason why we are so excited is that the entire development team seems to be formed by avid Harry Potter fans, and with the backing of WB Games they’ll have the necessary resources in order to create the most immersive, enthralling, and rewarding magical experience.

From what we could gather from the almost 15 minutes of presentation, everything that makes the Wizarding World special has been taken into consideration.

From the letter that accepts the students to Hogwarts, to the sorting ceremony, to the renowned locations and all the way to magic classes and mythical creatures, Harry Potter fans will be able to lose themselves in this thrilling open world.

I highly recommend that you check out this great article on the PlayStation Blog if you want to learn more about Hogwarts Legacy.

I really hope that Hogwarts Legacy will include some accessibility options for the blind, but even if it doesn’t I think that I will be able to enjoy the magical journey alongside Alina. This could be a great game if treated with the respect that it is noticeable at every step in yesterday’s presentation. The voice acting seems more than ok, the music is great and all the wonderful places that we will visit and the daring adventures that we are in for are more than reason enough to look forward to Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy is set to be released this Holidays Season on all major platforms and for us is now the most anticipated game of the year! With such talented and dedicated people behind this project and with such a rich universe as inspiration, only the imagination of the dev team and that of the writers can be the limit to what it can be achieved!

Let’s hope Hogwarts Legacy will be a complete success and that everyone can enjoy it, regardless of whether they are hardcore gamers or disabled in any way.
