KLOSSExpo 2026 in review: LEGO is for Everyone workshop, friendships and creativity

Hello, dear LEGO friends! Last weekend, Alina and I were back at KLOSSexpo, the largest LEGO convention in Norway, and once again we had an amazing time. After last year’s workshop about how blind people can build LEGO, we were invited back with an updated version of our LEGO is for Everyone presentation, which you can access or even download below.
Since we started building LEGO together in 2024, we have now built over 250 sets, and this year we had even more to share, including what we have learned from using LEGO Smart Play. We also talked about some of the resources that make LEGO more accessible to blind builders, including Bricks for the Blind, which offers over 685 adapted written instructions, LEGO’s Audio and Braille Instructions (over 130 adapted sets), color identifier tools, and AI technology.
Both Alina and I gave our presentations in Norwegian. Our original plan was to present in English, but Alina suggested that we should do it in Norwegian because there were so many small children in the room. It takes a lot of energy and concentration for both of us to present in Norwegian. I started learning the language in 2023, while Alina only started last year. It was definitely challenging, but it was absolutely worth it. One of the things I love about Norway is how people support and encourage you to keep pushing forward, even when your Norwegian is not as good as your English.
Being at an event like KLOSSexpo also takes a lot out of us. Since having COVID in 2021, we have found that being surrounded by so many people can be really tiring, and we get overstimulated very quickly. I think it is important to be open about this. We all have cognitive challenges, and there is nothing to hide about that.
Luckily, KLOSSexpo is held in a venue that works well for us, with good sound absorption and insulation. This makes it much easier to manage the noise and stimulation and enjoy the event.
The imagination and creativity of the LEGO community is unmatched, and we are always happy to be part of KLOSSexpo. After our presentations, we explored the entire venue, met people, talked LEGO and enjoyed all the amazing creations on display. Alina described many of them to me in detail, and we took lots of pictures that I will be able to explore later with descriptions from Apple Intelligence.
It was fantastic to see so many LEGO fans interested in how blind people build LEGO, as well as people trying out the new LEGO Smart Play sets. After Saturday’s presentation, Alina and I were also interviewed by TV 2, and we really enjoyed talking about our LEGO journey.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to hear us speak, including our amazing colleagues from Nydalen Voksenopplæring. Thank you to our friend Helene for joining us on Sunday, to Alina for always encouraging me to take on new challenges, and last but definitely not least, to Joakim for continuing to believe in us and inviting us back to KLOSSexpo.
We are really happy to have been part of KLOSSexpo 2026, continuing to spread our love for LEGO and sharing what we have learned along the way. We are already looking forward to coming back next year.
Happy building everyone, and Leg godt!
